Why nutritional values must be displayed in Romania

At the European level, Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on food information for consumers introduced the mandatory nature of nutritional labeling for most pre-packaged products intended for the final consumer. Romania applies this regulation through national legislation, which means that:

• for pre-packaged food products at least the following must be displayed:

  • energy value

  • fats

  • saturated fatty acids

  • carbohydrates

  • sugars

  • proteins

  • salt

• this information must be displayed per 100 g / 100 ml, in a table or clear, easy-to-read format.
